Convention 2008

Susan Hogarth presided as chair of the annual convention of the Libertarian Party of Wake County on March 15. Major accomplishments were adoption of a Statement of Organization* for the LP of Wake County and selection of five top issues from a panel of positions on local issues produced by our Issues Committee. Members were nominated and elected as this year's Wake LP officers:

          Fernie Williams - Chair
          Joy Elliott - Vice-Chair
          Stephanie Watson - Treasurer
          Linda Ellis - Secretary

Speakers at this convention included Michael Munger, Chair of the department of Political Science at Duke University and Libertarian candidate for NC Governor; Barbara Howe, Chair of the LP of North Carolina; Thomas Hill, LPNC Political Director; and Brian Irving, LPNC Communications Director. Special thanks to each of these speakers, to Chris Spruyt for hosting this event, and to Joy Elliott for serving as chief quiche baker and photographer. Thanks also to BJ Lawson, a Republican who made an appearance to respond to questions about his campaign for Congress in the 4th district, and to Johnny Crawford who posted an unofficial recap of this convention from his own perspective.

If you'd like to be a delegate for Wake County to the LPNC Convention in Burlington on April 12 - 13, please contact Fernie Williams at chair@wakelp.org. There are currently three easy ways to join the Party.
