Election '06: Congratulations to Joy Elliott!!

First: the exciting news - an election victory!
Even though we have been 'disaffiliated' by the state so cannot run candidates as "Libertarian" on the ballot, we are still eligible to run for nonpartisan offices such as Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor. Joy Elliott, a longtime WakeLPer, worked very hard talking to people at local meetings, churches, at the Fair, and everywhere. Her hard work paid off, as she had the second-highest vote total in a crowded vote-for-two field (S&W is at the bottom of the list). So, CONGRATULATIONS TO JOY! And thanks for all your hard work!

Come out tonight to Tir Na Nog to congratulate Joy in person!

Now: the bad news - the School Bond passed. On a good note, it passed by a fairly small margin. Perhaps the voters of Wake County are beginning to realize that borrowing your way into new 'infrastructure' is even worse policy than taxing for it. Perhaps. Let's resolve to work hard against the next bond issue.

And, finally, in the last-but-by-no-means-least department, thanks to the MANY Wake folks who stood outside for hours in the horrible weather of election day to get petition signatures.

Please come visit with us tonight!!
